YIKES!

Here is a piece of history. A 1987 GNX with 9.9 miles on the odo. Wow.
I have always loved those cars and this is as good as it gets. It was at $90k when I checked in today.

Saturday.

We went to Menards today and brought back bags and bags of projects for me. I have the basement torn completely apart right now and it looks like I won't get back to finish that very soon. Gotta go plant stuff, put up new outside lights, hang a flagpole, hang some planters, put up some more landscaping lights and fix a toilet.
-Anyhow, I thought this was kind of cool. Tiny little house. The guy used to teach in Iowa City, but is in SF now.
-Back to work now.

wow

I saw this clip on the Giz' today. Impressive short film by a student. A student who will quickly find a job post-graduation.

-But I bet he can't fling a yo-yo like this guy. Holy crud.

here is a fixer-upper

One of the Carrera GT's damaged in the movie "Redline" is on eBay right now. One was thrown off a cliff. This one was damaged on accident. If you remember, the same movie also claimed an Enzo accidentally in a promo stunt. Actually, the Enzo is (was) the car that is on the poster for that movie. I think I will pass on seeing it just because they busted up too many exotic and rare cars. These cars were owned by the producer of the movie. I am sorry, but if you trash historic cars like that, then you do not deserve to own them and you do not appreciate them. I can only imagine how stupid the movie must be.

This is kind of amusing. This guy is doing a demo of the new Canon 1D shooting in highest resolution RAW format at TEN frames per sec. You just have to suffer through a bit of French

LOL

Looks like the 1.3 BILLION folks in China bought 244 copies of Vista during its first 2 weeks over there.
This is why America is falling behind the rest of the world. If you can have 1.3 billion people and only 244 IDIOTS then you are way ahead of us right out of the gate.

GOOD FOR YOU!

Some of the families that were supposed to be interviewd on NBC because they lost family in the shooting at VT have now refused to be interviewed because they showed that damn video.
I went on a bit yesterday about the role that the media plays in this crap and after I did they only confrimed what I said. They showed that damn tape over and over again. All day long. Mary was watching TV and FOX was still playing it when I went to bed. I watched about a min. or two of it. That was plenty. What are you going to learn from it? That he was a messed up piece of shit? Well duh. So why are they giving him what he wanted by making him famous? And the next piece of shit that wants to kill himself will see how much "glory" you can get and it will all start over again.
I am tired of them. That is why I have no idea what is going on in the world these days. I don't watch the news. But if I did, I probably would still wouldn't.
Thank God for Fark :-) That is where I get most of my news.

tragic

The shootings at VT were .. I have no words for it my hearts go out to the thousands of people this will affect for years to come.
Now if we can just figure out a way to blame it on Don Imus, we will be in business. Bill O'Reilly is probably working on that right now.
It was funny listening to a bunch of media folks talking about the rise in shootings like this one. They said the the 70's there was really only one. Texas, I presume. In the 80's a few. And now it is about once a month this happens. One suggested there are too many guns. Another pointed out that for the most part there were about as many guns in the 70's as now. So then the finger started to point at video games and rap music. None of these guys stopped to think that perhaps they are part of the problem. I understand this is a HUGE news story and they need to cover it. But in 2 weeks when they have interviewed EVERY DAMN PERSON on campus and start to interview a dog that belonged to a guy that lived next door to the guy who shot those poor kids, then you will have your answer. They are just feeding our sick need to know every friggin' thing about these people so we are to blame too. But indeed they are part of the problem. They will compare it to the shootings in CO., which to this point were the #1 rated shooting event. We will keep stats on it. This really raises the bar if you want to be really famous, you are going to have to kill at least 40 now. Damn.
This shit is just wrong and I am tired of it. It is great for W' and the rest because it takes our minds off of things that really matters. Like will my brother have to go to war for the THIRD time? Will the price of gas still go up even though some friggin oil exec got a $400,000,000.00 payday last week? Will Anna Nicole's mom get visitation rights?
Okay, the last one is stupid. But before Imus, that is ALL they talked about. Then the Imus thing and everyone wanted to report that crap to death. Because as Americans we are too stupid to care about more then one thing at a time and the media will decide for us which thing it is that we care about.
I also thought that it was kind of silly for Bill O'Reilly to try to blame the dean of VT for not locking down the school after the first shooting. There are like 27,000 students there. The place is huge. The shooter is a student and has ID. WTF? So now we have THIS. OU (go sooners) locks down the campus because somebody saw a guy carring an damn umbrella.
-Some of the blogs and webpages of the victims are being linked on sites now. I have looked through a few and it makes it very real to see that these were real people with lives and loved ones, photographs, and ideas.

Rockwell's Retro-encabulator.

I saw this a couple of years ago and it really cracked me up. I never did figure out who made it. Techblog just posted it and says that it was a training film for Rockwell employees and that they put the non-sense words in it so they would learn about how to make a presentation and not be sidetracked by what he was talking about. The end result.. well it is one of my favorites.

Aw, hell. Tomorrow is Monday. Better get off to bed. At least we have Jack tomorrow.

Saturday

Did not really get anything done today. I got Alex's desk done the other day and was going to start on her shelves but that got put on hold. So instead I made a time lapse movie of the pond out back. That was kind of cool.
Once in a while something is SO stupid that it just cracks me up and I can't stop laughing. This was one of those times.

new ploy to sell more cameras

I found this today. It has suggestions on how to get more out of your HP camera using the self timer. Put it on the hood of your car.. in the grass. Tie it to a string and drop it over a big ass bridge. Throw it in the air! WEEE!

-here is a big ass model car kit.

-Leo posted a good article on the whole Imus thing. Here is another.

Al Sharpton is an idiot

That is not news I guess. But the whole Don Imus thing was interesting to me. When I first heard it I thought to myself that he needs to be fired right now. But that is partially because I don't like him, I must admit. But then when Al Sharpton chimes in demanding he be fired, it forced me to rethink my position on the whole deal. Fat Al is so full of shit and so full of himself (same thing) that whenever he spews crap I disagree with it just out of habit. He is like the ACUL. I am sure sometimes they have some lagit' issues, but I would not know since I stopped listening to their crap years ago.
And then there is this guy.

Nobody seems too upset about his statements. This was like 2 years ago and I never even heard about it. I saw the video on Break.com of all places. It is ironic that the good Dr. is in favor of killing all the white people on the planet, but is an opponent of the death penalty.

I worked on the desk unit that I am making for Alex today. Made drawers. Forgot how long that takes. Tomorrow I paint it. Yes, paint it. First project I ever made that got paint on it.

FRIDAY!

*whoot*
A woman scorned.....
What happens when you flirt on the radio with a woman while your pregnant wife is at home with your turbo Esprit (registered in her name) and an eBay account? Somebody got the deal of the century.

-I am not sure how I dislike more.. Bill or Geraldo. But it sure is fun to watch these two big-mouth-know-it-alls go at each other. I have to admit that this is the one issue I agree with Bill about. But he is still a dick head.

Well here is something you don't see every day. I think Stove might have linked to this story years ago.. not sure. But here is an interview with the guy that built a perfect 1/3 scale Ferrari 312. He built the flat 12 engine, learned how to make tires and glass so he could make the correct lenses for the lights. I just can not even express how amazed I am with this.

day off!

I had today off. I am working on a desk and shelf for Alex's room and got some of that done. Then I was thinking about the camera I wanted to buy with my part of the "extra" money from the closing. I had been looking on the interweb and found them much cheaper then Best Buy so I had not really considered getting one there. Besides the fact that Best Buy sucks. Anyhow, for some reason I looked on their site today and they had it on sale, which made it fairly close to the price I would pay to order it in. So I headed out there to check it out. But when I got there, the camera I wanted was on sale, but I was sure it was less then that on the 'net. So I called Stove in MN and he looked it up. Sure enough it was wrong. The kid said he would match the price.
That is totally bogus, but the end result was I got it for the price I wanted. It is a Canon Digital Rebel XT. I shot a couple hundred pictures with it today and it seems like it is pretty cool.
